Happy Earth Day from Skaana
Earth Day Presents include... part two of our interview with Paul Watson and the cover of Mark Leiren-Young's new book - Sharks Forever
Happy Earth Day!
I hope you’re doing as well as possible in these surreal times.
I’m so thrilled to finally be sharing part two of our interview with one of my inspirations: eco-warrior, Captain Paul Watson, where we talk about Rob Stewart, Alexandra Morton, adventures in eco-politics and sooooooo much more.
Also… honoured to be sharing the news that Captain Paul Watson wrote the introduction to my new book - Sharks Forever: The Mystery and History of the Planet’s Perfect Predator (available for pre-order NOW) and hitting bookstores in the fall!
I’ve also written a new baby book about sharks - Big Sharks, Small World! And since it’s about sharks I think it’s appropriate that, like most baby books, it is chewable.
Both these books were inspired by the work and dreams of another one of my eco-heroes, Rob Stewart - whose essential documentary, Sharkwater, spun out of Rob’s adventures with Paul Watson.
Please listen to the episode on Spotify &/or iTunes! Be sure to like, subscribe and all the good things.
And if you’d like to help us make more waves for whales - and produce more episodes more often - and support us in producing our upcoming episodes featuring Frans de Waal, Lynda Mapes and the directors of several fantastic movies about whales, please support us at https://www.patreon.com/skaana
Bonus - non-ocean-related interview…
I also wanted to share an interview I did that has nothing to do with orcas. In 2016, I interviewed Academy Award winning documentary filmmaker, John Zaritsky, for Reel West Magazine. The magazine (which I was editing) folded before I finished writing the story. When I heard that John died last month I thought I’d see if I could find the audio. I did. And I posted it on YouTube.
Thanks for reading/listening/viewing and, most of all, thanks for caring.
Mark
